Olga Kurylenko was born Olga Konstantinovna Kurylenko on November 14, 1979, in Berdyansk, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union (now Ukraine). She was raised primarily by her mother, Marina Alyabysheva, an art teacher, after her parents divorced when she was three years old. She experienced a modest upbringing. Kurylenko was discovered by a model scout in Moscow at the age of 13.
At the age of 15, Kurylenko moved to Paris to pursue a modeling career. She signed with the Madison modeling agency. By the age of 16, she appeared on the covers of *Elle*, *Vogue*, *Marie Claire*, and *Madame Figaro*. She also became the face of brands such as Clarins and Helena Rubinstein.
Kurylenko transitioned to acting in 2005. She made her acting debut in the French film *L’Annulaire* (Fingerprint). She quickly gained recognition for her acting abilities and began appearing in both French and international productions.
