Mackenzie Davis was born on April 1, 1987, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is the daughter of Lotte, a graphic designer, and John Davis, a hairdresser. She was raised in West Vancouver and graduated from Collingwood School in 2005. Davis attended McGill University in Montreal, where she studied English Literature before pursuing acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City.
Davis began her acting career with small roles in independent films. Her early work includes appearances in films such as “Smashed” (2012) and “Breathe In” (2013).
Davis gained wider recognition for her role as Naomi in the romantic comedy “What If” (2013). She further solidified her presence in Hollywood with her role as programmer Cameron Howe in the AMC television series “Halt and Catch Fire” (2014-2017), which garnered critical acclaim.
