Ksenia Solo was born on October 8, 1987, in Riga, Latvian SSR, Soviet Union (now Latvia). She moved to Canada with her family at a young age and grew up in Toronto, Ontario. She is of Russian-Latvian descent. Solo trained in ballet from the age of 5 until a back injury forced her to discontinue.
Solo began her acting career with minor roles in Canadian television series. Her breakthrough role came in 2005 when she was cast as Zoey Jones in the Canadian teen drama series Renegadepress.com. She starred in the series from 2004 to 2008, earning two Gemini Awards for Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series. This role helped establish her as a prominent young actress in Canada.
Following her success in Renegadepress.com, Solo transitioned to roles in both television and film. She gained international recognition for her portrayal of Kenzi in the Showcase supernatural drama series Lost Girl, which ran from 2010 to 2015. Her character, a human with a knack for survival and quick wit, became a fan favorite.
Throughout her career, Solo has demonstrated versatility by taking on diverse roles across genres, including drama, science fiction, and horror. She has appeared in independent films and mainstream productions, showcasing her ability to adapt to various acting styles and character types.
