Sophie Alexandra Skelton was born on March 7, 1994, in Woodford, Cheshire, England. She trained extensively in ballet from a young age and pursued other dance forms, including contemporary and jazz. Before focusing on acting, she considered a career as a professional dancer. She attended a local school in Cheshire.
Skelton began her acting career with appearances in British television series. Her early roles include episodes of DCI Banks, Waterloo Road, Casualty, and Foyle’s War.
Skelton gained international recognition for her role as Brianna Randall Fraser in the Starz television series Outlander, based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon.
