Mena Alexandra Suvari was born on February 13, 1979, in Newport, Rhode Island. Her mother, Candice (née Chambers), was a nurse, and her father, Ando Süvari, worked as a psychiatrist. She has Finnish and Greek-Estonian ancestry. Suvari began modeling as a child and appeared in television commercials before transitioning into acting.
