Isla Lang Fisher was born on February 3, 1976, in Muscat, Oman, to Scottish parents who were working there. When she was a child, her family moved to Perth, Western Australia. Fisher began appearing in Australian television commercials at the age of nine. She attended Swanbourne Senior High School and Methodist Ladies’ College.
Fisher’s acting career began in Australian television. She appeared in the children’s television series Bay Cove in 1993. From 1994 to 1997, she played the role of Shannon Reed in the Australian soap opera Home and Away.
Following her success in Home and Away, Fisher transitioned to film roles. She studied at L’École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, a Parisian school specializing in physical theatre, before pursuing film roles more seriously.
