Katherine Marie Heigl was born on November 24, 1978, in Washington, D.C., to Nancy (née Engelhardt), a personnel manager, and Paul Heigl, an accountant and executive. She is of German, Irish, and English descent. She was raised in New Canaan, Connecticut. Heigl began her career as a child model before transitioning into acting.
Heigl’s acting career began in the early 1990s. Her early roles included appearances in films like “That Night” (1992) and “My Father the Hero” (1994). She also starred in the television series “Roswell” (1999-2002), which garnered her significant recognition.
