Vivica A. Fox, born Vivica Anjanetta Fox on July 30, 1964, in South Bend, Indiana, is an American actress, producer, and television host. She is of African-American and Native American descent. Fox graduated from Arlington High School in Indianapolis and later moved to California to pursue her acting career.
Fox began her career with roles on television soap operas such as Days of Our Lives and Generations in the late 1980s. Her early television appearances also included guest spots on shows like Who’s the Boss? and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Fox gained wider recognition in the mid-1990s with roles in films like Set It Off (1996) and Independence Day (1996). Her performance in Soul Food (1997) further solidified her status as a leading actress. Other notable film roles include Why Do Fools Fall in Love (1998), Kingdom Come (2001), and the Kill Bill series (2003-2004) where she played Vernita Green.
She reprised her role as Jasmine Dubrow in Independence Day: Resurgence (2016).
In addition to her film work, Fox has maintained a consistent presence in television. She starred in her own sitcom, Getting Personal (1998), and had a recurring role on the medical drama ER. She also starred in the Lifetime television series Missing (2003-2006). She has hosted several television shows, including The Prancing Elites Project and Face the Truth.
Fox has also worked as a producer on several films and television projects, demonstrating her entrepreneurial endeavors within the entertainment industry. This includes producing many of the television movies in which she stars.
