Courtney Michelle Love (born Courtney Michelle Harrison on July 9, 1964, in San Francisco, California) is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and visual artist. Her early life was marked by periods of instability and travel, living in various locations including California, Oregon, and New Zealand. She attended multiple schools and briefly worked as a stripper under the name “Michelle.”
Love’s primary claim to fame stems from her musical career. She is best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the alternative rock band Hole, which she formed in 1989. Hole achieved significant commercial success with albums such as “Live Through This” (1994) and “Celebrity Skin” (1998). Prior to Hole, she was briefly involved with other bands, including Sugar Babydoll and Pagan Babies. Love has also released solo material, including her debut album “America’s Sweetheart” (2004).
In addition to her musical endeavors, Courtney Love has pursued an acting career, appearing in both film and television. While her acting career is secondary to her music career, she has garnered critical attention for several roles.
