Minka Kelly was born Minka Dumont Dufay on June 24, 1980, in Los Angeles, California. Her mother, Maureen Dumont Kelly, was an exotic dancer and her father, Rick Dufay, was a guitarist for the band Aerosmith. Kelly spent much of her childhood being raised by her mother and moved frequently throughout her early life.
Before pursuing acting, Kelly worked as a scrub nurse. She began her acting career in the early 2000s with minor roles in television shows. Her early credits include appearances in series such as “Drake & Josh” and “American Dreams.”
Kelly gained widespread recognition for her role as Lyla Garrity in the NBC television series “Friday Night Lights” (2006-2009). This role significantly boosted her career and established her as a prominent actress.
Following “Friday Night Lights,” Kelly continued to work extensively in television. She starred in the short-lived revival of “Charlie’s Angels” (2011) and had recurring roles in series such as “Parenthood” and “Almost Human.” She also starred in the Fox series “The Mob Doctor” (2012-2013) and the Hulu series “The Path” (2016-2018). More recently, she starred in the DC Universe/HBO Max series “Titans” (2018-2021) as Dawn Granger / Dove.
