Emma Margaret Tachard-Mackey (born 4 January 1996) is a French-British actress. She was born in Le Mans, France, to a French father and a British mother. She grew up in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, France and obtained her French Baccalauréat in 2013. She then moved to the United Kingdom to study English Language and Literature at the University of Leeds, graduating in 2016.
Before her breakthrough role, Mackey gained experience through student films and theatre productions during her time at the University of Leeds. She also worked as a model.
Mackey’s career gained significant momentum with her role as Maeve Wiley in the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education (2019–2023). Her portrayal of the sharp-witted and independent Maeve garnered critical acclaim and widespread recognition.
Following Sex Education, Mackey has taken on various film roles, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
Mackey has received nominations and awards for her performances, particularly for her role in Sex Education. This includes a BAFTA Television Award nomination for Best Female Comedy Performance in 2021.
