Deepika Padukone was born on January 5, 1986, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her family relocated to Bangalore, India, when she was eleven months old. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a former badminton player of international repute. Her mother, Ujjala Padukone, is a travel agent. She has a younger sister, Anisha Padukone, who is a golfer. Deepika attended Sophia High School in Bangalore and later Mount Carmel College. While in high school, she played badminton at the state level but eventually chose a career in modeling.
Padukone began her modeling career in 2004. Early in her career, she appeared in commercials for Liril, Close-Up toothpaste, and Limca. She was recognised for her appearance in the music video “Naam Hai Tera” by Himesh Reshammiya.
Deepika Padukone made her Bollywood debut in 2007 with Farah Khan’s romantic melodrama Om Shanti Om, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The film was a commercial success, and she received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Following this, she appeared in several films that achieved varying degrees of success.
A turning point in her career came with the 2012 romantic comedy Cocktail, which earned her critical acclaim and several Best Actress nominations. She followed this with a string of commercially and critically successful films, establishing herself as a leading actress in Bollywood.
