Hana Mae Lee was born on September 28, 1988, in Northridge, California. She is of Korean descent. Before pursuing acting, Lee had a successful career as a fashion designer and model. She graduated from Granada Hills Charter High School and attended Otis College of Art and Design, where she studied fashion design.
Lee began her acting career primarily in television, appearing in guest roles on shows such as “Mike & Molly” and “Workaholics.” Her breakthrough role came with the film “Pitch Perfect” in 2012, where she portrayed the character Lilly Onakuramara, a quiet and unusual member of the Barden Bellas a cappella group. She reprised the role in “Pitch Perfect 2” (2015) and “Pitch Perfect 3” (2017).
