Robin Simone Givens was born on November 27, 1964, in New York City. She was raised primarily in Mount Vernon, New York. Givens demonstrated academic aptitude early in life, graduating from New Rochelle Academy at the age of 16. She attended Sarah Lawrence College before transferring to Harvard University, where she majored in pre-med. She left Harvard to pursue acting full-time.
