Early Life and Background

Nina Dobrev (born Nikolina Kamenova Dobreva) was born on January 9, 1989, in Sofia, Bulgaria. At the age of two, she moved to Canada with her parents and older brother. She was raised in Toronto, Ontario. Dobrev attended Vradenburg Junior Public School and then Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts in Scarborough, Ontario. She also attended Ryerson University in Toronto, majoring in Sociology, but left in 2008 to pursue her acting career.

Acting Career

Nina Dobrev began her acting career with minor roles in television series and films in the mid-2000s. Her early roles included appearances in the Canadian drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation, where she portrayed Mia Jones from 2006 to 2009. This role provided her with significant exposure and helped launch her career.
