Julianne Alexandra Hough was born on July 20, 1988, in Orem, Utah, to Marianne and Bruce Hough. She is the youngest of five siblings. She began her formal training in dance at the Center Stage Performing Arts Studio in Orem. At age 10, she moved to London with her brother Derek to study dance at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.
Hough’s professional career began as a dancer. She appeared as an extra in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001. She returned to the United States and became a professional dancer on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in 2007. She won two seasons with partners Apolo Anton Ohno (Season 4) and Hélio Castroneves (Season 5). She left the show in 2009 to pursue acting and music careers, returning as a judge from 2014 to 2017.
Hough transitioned into acting with her film debut in Burlesque (2010). She has since appeared in several films in leading and supporting roles. Her performances showcase versatility across various genres, including musical, romantic drama and comedy.
