Daisy Jessica Edgar-Jones was born on May 24, 1998, in Islington, London, England. Her mother, Wendy Edgar-Jones, is a film editor, and her father, Philip Edgar-Jones, is a Director of Sky Arts and Head of Entertainment at Sky. She was raised in Muswell Hill, London, and began acting in school plays from a young age. She attended The Mount School for Girls and later Woodhouse College.
Edgar-Jones’s professional acting career began with a recurring role as Olivia in the British comedy-drama series Cold Feet (2016-2020). She also appeared in episodes of Outnumbered and Silent Witness.
Edgar-Jones achieved international recognition for her portrayal of Marianne Sheridan in the critically acclaimed Hulu/BBC Three adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel Normal People (2020). Her performance garnered widespread praise for its depth and nuance, establishing her as a leading talent.
Following Normal People, Edgar-Jones starred in the Sky Atlantic drama War of the Worlds (2019-2021). She also appeared in the independent film Fresh (2022), a thriller directed by Mimi Cave, and the biographical drama Where the Crawdads Sing (2022), based on Delia Owens’s novel. She starred in Under the Banner of Heaven (2022), a true crime miniseries for FX on Hulu. Her stage debut was in the Almeida Theatre’s production of Albion in 2020, which was later broadcast by the BBC.
