Alexandra Anna Daddario was born on March 16, 1986, in New York City, New York. Her parents are Christina, a lawyer, and Richard Daddario, a prosecutor and former head of the New York City Police Department counterterrorism unit. She has Italian, Irish, English, and Slovak ancestry. She has a younger brother, Matthew Daddario, who is also an actor, and a sister, Catharine Daddario. Daddario attended Brearley School and Professional Children’s School. She studied acting using the Meisner technique for several years.
Daddario made her television debut at the age of 16, playing Laurie Lewis in the ABC daytime soap opera All My Children (2002-2003). She then had guest roles in television series such as Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and The Sopranos.
Daddario gained wider recognition for her role as Annabeth Chase in the fantasy adventure film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010). She reprised the role in the sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013).
