Bipasha Basu Singh Grover (born January 7, 1979), known professionally as Bipasha Basu, is an Indian actress. She was born in Delhi and raised in Kolkata, West Bengal to a Bengali Hindu family. She has two sisters, Bidisha and Vijayeta.
Basu began her career as a model in 1996 after winning the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel Contest. She then represented India in the Ford Models Supermodel of the World contest.
Basu made her acting debut in the 2001 Hindi film Ajnabee, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She is primarily known for her work in Hindi films, though she has also appeared in Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali films.
Bipasha Basu has starred in numerous commercially successful and critically acclaimed films. She is known for her roles in thriller and horror genres, earning her the moniker “Horror Queen” in Bollywood. She has received several awards and nominations for her performances.
Bipasha Basu married actor Karan Singh Grover in April 2016. They have one daughter, Devi Basu Singh Grover, born in 2022.
