Cécile de France (born Cécile Crochon on July 17, 1975) is a Belgian actress. She was born in Namur, Belgium. At the age of 17, she moved to Paris to study acting at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques du Théâtre (ENSATT), followed by studies at the Cours Florent.
De France began her acting career with small roles in French television and film. Her breakthrough came in 2002 with her performance in the French comedy L’Auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Apartment), directed by Cédric Klapisch. This role garnered her a César Award for Most Promising Actress.
Following the success of L’Auberge Espagnole, de France gained international recognition. She starred in the American action film Around the World in 80 Days (2004), opposite Jackie Chan and Steve Coogan. She continued to work in both French and international productions.
