Charlbi Dean Kriek (born Charlbi Dean on February 5, 1990, in Cape Town, South Africa; died August 29, 2022, in New York City) was a South African actress and model. She attended Waterfront Theatre School in Cape Town, focusing on acting and ballet.
Dean began her modeling career at the age of six, appearing in commercials and catalogues. She signed with a professional modeling agency at age 12 and worked extensively in the fashion industry, appearing in magazines and on runways internationally.
Dean transitioned into acting with her debut role in the 2010 film Spud. She continued to pursue acting roles, balancing them with her modeling career. She starred in several South African and international productions, showcasing her versatility and range.
Dean’s career culminated in her leading role in Ruben Östlund’s Triangle of Sadness, which received significant international recognition. The film’s Palme d’Or win at Cannes highlighted her talent and potential on the global stage.
