Eva Gaëlle Green was born on July 6, 1980, in Paris, France. Her mother, Marlène Jobert, is an actress, and her father, Walter Green, is a dentist. She has a fraternal twin sister, Joy. Green is of French, Swedish, and Algerian-Jewish descent. She spent part of her childhood in London. She initially considered studying Egyptology but eventually pursued acting.
Green studied acting at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London after a period at the Saint Paul Drama School in Paris. She also attended the Cours Florent in Paris.
Green began her acting career in theatre, appearing in productions such as “La Jalousie en Trois Fax” and “Turcaret.” Her film debut was in Bernardo Bertolucci’s “The Dreamers” (2003), which garnered her international attention.
Her breakthrough role came with Ridley Scott’s “Kingdom of Heaven” (2005). She subsequently starred as Vesper Lynd in “Casino Royale” (2006), a James Bond film, for which she received the BAFTA Rising Star Award. Other notable film roles include:
