Genesis Rodriguez was born on July 29, 1987, in Miami, Florida, to José Luis Rodríguez, a Venezuelan singer and actor, and Carolina Perez, a Cuban model. Her upbringing was bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English. She attended the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Miami.
Rodriguez began her acting career in telenovelas. From 2004 to 2005, she appeared in Telemundo’s Prisionera. She subsequently had roles in Dame Chocolate (2007) and Doña Bárbara (2008-2009). These roles established her within the Latin American television market.
Rodriguez transitioned to English-language roles, beginning with the action film Man on a Ledge (2012). This marked a significant shift in her career, leading to roles in Hollywood productions.
