Gina L. Gershon was born on June 10, 1962, in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of Mickey Gershon, a businessman, and Stan Gershon, an interior designer. Gershon is of Jewish heritage and grew up in Beverly Hills. She attended Beverly Hills High School and later studied drama and psychology at Sarah Lawrence College, graduating in 1983. She also attended Circle in the Square Professional Theater School in New York City.
