Michelle Lynn Monaghan was born on March 23, 1976, in Winthrop, Iowa. She is of Irish and German descent. She graduated from East Buchanan High School in 1994 and studied journalism at Columbia College Chicago before leaving to pursue a modeling career.
Monaghan began her acting career with guest appearances on television series such as “Young Americans” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” She also made her film debut in “Perfume” in 2001.
Monaghan’s breakthrough role came in 2005 with her appearance in “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.” She then starred in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” that same year. Other notable roles followed, establishing her as a versatile actress in both comedic and dramatic roles.
Besides her film work, Monaghan has also had significant roles in television, including the HBO series “True Detective” (Season 1) and the Hulu series “The Path.”
