Early Life and Education

Nicole Beharie was born on March 3, 1985, in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was raised in multiple locations, including South Carolina, Georgia, and Germany, due to her father’s military career. Beharie graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She subsequently attended and graduated from Juilliard School in 2007 with a BFA in Drama.

Career Beginnings

Beharie began her professional acting career shortly after graduating from Juilliard. She made her feature film debut in American Violet (2008). Her early work also included roles in independent films and stage productions.

Breakthrough Roles and Notable Works

Beharie gained wider recognition for her performance in the film 42 (2013), where she portrayed Rachel Robinson, the wife of Jackie Robinson. From 2013 to 2016, she starred as Abbie Mills in the Fox supernatural drama series Sleepy Hollow. Her performance in Sleepy Hollow earned her critical acclaim and multiple award nominations.
