Olga Tchakova, known professionally as Olga Fonda, was born on October 1, 1982, in Ukhta, Komi ASSR, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union (now Russia). She moved to the United States as an exchange student at the age of 14, settling in Maine. While in Maine, she worked various jobs, including hosting and modeling, before pursuing a career in acting.
Prior to acting, Fonda had a successful career in modeling. She worked for various brands and appeared in numerous commercials and print advertisements. This experience provided her with exposure and prepared her for the transition into the entertainment industry.
Olga Fonda began her acting career with guest appearances in television shows. Her breakthrough came with a recurring role as Irina Derevko (later revealed to be Natasha) in the CW’s spy drama series, Nikita (2010-2013). This role significantly raised her profile and led to further opportunities.
She gained further recognition for her role as Nadia Petrova in the popular CW supernatural drama series, The Vampire Diaries (2013-2014). Her portrayal of the complex and morally ambiguous character garnered her a dedicated fanbase.
Fonda also appeared in the ABC drama series, Agent Carter (2015), playing the role of Dottie Underwood’s roommate. She reprised her role in a flashback sequence in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
