Olivia Colman, born Sarah Caroline Olivia Colman on January 30, 1974, in Norwich, Norfolk, England, is a British actress. She attended Gresham’s School in Holt, Norfolk, and later studied primary teaching at Homerton College, Cambridge. She switched to drama after a year, studying at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, graduating in 1999.
Colman began her career in comedic roles, frequently collaborating with David Mitchell and Robert Webb. Early television appearances included roles in “Bruiser,” “People Like Us,” and “Look Around You.” Her breakthrough came with the sitcom “Peep Show” (2003-2015), where she played Sophie Chapman.
While continuing to excel in comedy, Colman transitioned to more dramatic roles, showcasing her versatility. Her performance in Paddy Considine’s “Tyrannosaur” (2011) garnered critical acclaim and marked a significant turning point in her career.
