Olivia Haigh Williams was born on July 26, 1968, in Camden Town, London, England. Her parents were both barristers. She attended South Hampstead High School and later New College, Oxford, where she studied English. After graduating from Oxford, she trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Williams began her acting career primarily on the stage, performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her early television work included roles in British series such as “The Ruth Rendell Mysteries” and “Emma.”
Williams’ film debut came in 1996 with “Emma,” followed by a more significant role in “The Postman” (1997). She gained wider recognition for her performance in Wes Anderson’s “Rushmore” (1998). Throughout her career, she has worked across various genres, demonstrating versatility in both independent and mainstream films.
