María Paz Campos Trigo, known professionally as Paz Vega, was born on January 2, 1976, in Seville, Spain. She adopted the stage name “Paz Vega” after her grandmother. She attended the Centro Andaluz de Teatro in Seville from the age of 16, studying performing arts.
Vega began her acting career in Spanish television series, including “Menudo es mi padre” (1996) and “Más que amigos” (1997-1998). Her breakthrough role came in the popular Spanish television series “7 Vidas” (1999-2000).
Vega gained international recognition for her role as Lucía in the Spanish film “Sex and Lucía” (Lucía y el sexo, 2001), directed by Julio Medem. The film garnered her a Goya Award for Best New Actress.
Following the success of “Sex and Lucía,” Vega transitioned to Hollywood, making her American film debut in “Spanglish” (2004), directed by James L. Brooks, where she co-starred with Adam Sandler. She has since appeared in a variety of American and international films.
