Rebecca Catherine Gibney was born on December 14, 1964, in Levin, New Zealand. She is an actress known for her work in Australian and New Zealand film and television.
Gibney began her acting career in New Zealand, appearing in television shows such as Sea Urchins. She moved to Australia in the mid-1980s to further her career.
Gibney gained significant recognition for her role as Emma Plimpton in the Australian television drama The Flying Doctors (1986-1991). This was followed by a prominent role as Julie Winters in the popular series Halifax f.p. (1994-2002), where she played a forensic psychiatrist. She also starred as Jane Halifax in the rebooted series Halifax: Retribution (2020).
Another significant role was as Sally Banks in the comedy-drama series Packed to the Rafters (2008-2013), a role she reprised in the sequel series Back to the Rafters (2021).
