Her acting career began unexpectedly when, as a teenager, she accompanied a friend to a casting call and was selected for the lead role in the film La Boum (1980).

Breakthrough and Rise to Fame

La Boum was a major commercial success, instantly catapulting Marceau to stardom in France and internationally. She reprised her role in the sequel, La Boum 2 (1982), which earned her the César Award for Most Promising Actress. These early successes established her as a prominent figure in French cinema.
